梅麗莎（艾米·斯馬特 Amy Smart 飾）和華裔玉林（Tim Chiou 飾）是一對來自美國的新婚夫婦，他們將蜜月地點(diǎn)選在玉林的家鄉(xiāng)——中國廣東某縣。異域文化讓土生土長的美國女孩梅麗莎好奇、驚喜，不過也許他們挑錯了時機(jī)。是時正值農(nóng)歷七月，中國的鬼節(jié)臨近。當(dāng)?shù)貙?dǎo)游平（Dennis Chan 飾）驅(qū)車載著二人前往玉林的家。夜深人靜，道路蜿蜒，人生地不熟的平失去方向，來到一片陌生的村莊。平下車問路，卻始終不見回來。夫妻二人焦急萬分，于是下車尋找。他們一無所獲，反而被恐怖的叫聲下的失魂落魄?！ 扇蓑?qū)車逃跑，一路上驚險不斷。梅麗莎曾和平談?wù)撨^餓死鬼的傳說，而在鬼門大開的時分，似乎餓死鬼并非只是傳說……
